Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation during which you will be able to concentrate all of your attention onto one particular idea or concept in order to gain the result that you need. At no point will you be asleep or be in a trance state as commonly seen in films.
We all drift in and out of hypnosis several times a day without realizing it. Common examples of this are driving to a regular destination yet on arrival not being able to recall the details of the journey. Or being so engrossed in a book or a film you fail to hear someone who is talking to you.
When you are intently guided into this deep state of relaxation by a trained hypnotherapist they are able to communicate directly with your subconscious in order to give it a variety of ideas and suggestions.
Whist in this relaxed state you may appear to be sleeping, but you are far more receptive to using your senses of hearing, taste, smell and feeling. You are also fully aware of every thing happening to you and able to communicate and and open your eyes whenever you wish to, you may simply make the choice not to. No one can be made to do anything they do not want to do, as your conscious mind would intervene and bring you out of the relaxed state.

No definitely not although it feels wonderful to relax as deeply as you do in hypnosis you will always come out of this state you cannot be stuck there.
No this only happens in films and fiction if at any point you are unhappy with being hypnotised you will be able to get up and walk away.
Any body suffering from a psychotic episodes should never be taken into a hypnotic state. Other than this most people can be safely hypnotised, any problems/contraindications would come to light in the initial consultation which is free of charge.
This really depends on what you are coming to see me for but most issues can be resolved with three sessions. With the exception of stop smoking which is one session of approximately one and a half to two hours in length.
