Depression is in all probability one of the hardest fights you will ever have in your life. And to make matters worse it’s often one that you end up fighting solo.
The daily struggle just to get out of bed and get dressed can become an epic battle as depression makes you feel permanently tired both physically and mentally. Some of my clients stay in the house and stare at the TV all day. Others go to work and struggle through the day in a numb haze.
It leaks out and touches every aspect of your life family, friends and work all start to suffer.
Some clients take antidepressants and these can be an effective measure of some, but others feel they make them detached from themselves.
So can hypnotherapy help? Yes there is always a starting point for depression one that you may not even be aware of on a conscious level but your subconscious never forgets anything.
Hypnotherapy can go deep down into your subconscious and allow you to deal with the issue head on getting to the root of the problem. With each healing session of clinical hypnotherapy, we can replace the fearful repetitive thoughts that often haunt people following a traumatic experience. Positive affirmations used in the sessions will now start to work because the underlying emotional release has been accomplished in the safe confines of the therapy room under hypnosis.
Once the self-sabotaging thoughts and behaviours associated with depression have been resolved, you will start to notice improvements in your body’s functioning. Patterns of restless sleep, low energy or libido, headaches or chronic pain will start to subside.
How many sessions will it take? A minimum of three and the most I have ever given an individual client is eight but as an average most people have four sessions.
After the sessions you will have to put some effort into maintaining your mental health. You can do this in a number of ways. Taking regular exercise will help keep your serotonin levels up, cutting back on watching the news and social media can help stop you from sliding back into negative thought patterns. Changing you daily routine and cutting back on alcahol and eating a balanced diet can all contribute to keeping your mental health in a good place.
